Get your students into the spooky spirit of learning with this interactive Halloween countdown calendar created with BookWidgets! For the last 13 days before Halloween, students can click a new number each day to reveal a fun, digital Halloween-themed activity.
This Halloween calendar turns the classroom into a place of daily discovery, creativity, and excitement, while reinforcing important 21st-century skills like problem-solving, reading comprehension, and digital literacy.
The BookWidgets Halloween Countdown Calendar - 3 Different Classroom Set Ups
Every classroom is different, so I created 3 different halloween countdown calendars you can choose from. The activities are all the same, are all targeted at 10 to 14 year olds, but the delivery is different for each calendar.
⚠️ Keep in mind that every classroom is different, and so are your students. If you find some Halloween lesson plans or images in this calendar sensitive for your students, you can switch it up by adapting the calendar with activities and Halloween exercises of your own making. How to Use the Halloween Countdown Calendar?
It's pretty easy, and students also get clear instructions once they are in the calendar. But I listed the steps below to help you along.
- Students navigate to bookwidgets.com/play and enter the given shortcode or scan the Qr code. You can also share the direct student link mentioned above in the table or share that link within your LMS. The activities will also work on smartphones, even though larger screens provide a better student experience.
- Students start the calendar on the 19th of October, so the last activity aligns with Halloween, October 31, 13 days later.
- Each day, students click on the day number in the countdown calendar or planner, starting with 13. An activity will open, and students complete the Halloween activity.
- After completing the activity, students can go back to the countdown calendar by cicking the black arrow in the upper left corner.
- Students repeat this for the next day!
💡Teacher Tip: If you don't teach the same students every day, you can also complete the entire calendar in one day, on Halloween. Because, why not? Talk about a Monster Mash! 👻

How to Make Changes & Create your own Halloween Activities
Create a free BookWidgets account, navigate to this group with the Halloween widgets in it, and duplicate the widget - or Halloween activity - you want to change. Don't forget to update the calendar by adding this new activity in place of the old one. You can recognize the calendars as a "hotspot image" widget or a "planner" widget.
!Important! You have to duplicate all the widgets before making changes. Click on the arrow next to "show" and choose "duplicate".
